Joybike

This is my own version of the Joystickbike, originally invented by the Swiss pioneer Yvan Forclaz.

It all started with a coarse concept, obsolete bicycles and even furniture (aka chairs).

Just needed this part here...

With the help from a pro, the new frame took shape.

The seat needed more space. So heating that pipe and bending it backwards did the trick!

It's a bike or something like it...

The heart of the steering, Yvan's marvelous idea!

There were some setbacks, due to high forces and oversteer (that rod should be straight)!

Yvan invited me to an event at Joystickbike HQ. I learned a lot about the original Joystickbike (behind mine) and the latest version (in the back).

Of course I had a lot of fun as well!

Being back home, it was time to finish it!

Looks decent on the other end as well :-)

The training wheels help with take-off and landing; the cogs support the long chain.

It's actually quite cozy, but nearly impossible to drive uphill...

Last but not least some shiny lights (and lasers)...

And a double-barrel lightpump in the front...

...to create the right mood!

Now I just need to learn how to ride it...
